Personal Appearance of Clayton Moore

by Andy
(Bridgeport, Ct.)

Back in the mid fifties (I guess 1958) my mother took me to a local amusement park called Pleasure Beach--this was a very special day--my cowboy hero Clayton Moore was appearing in person as The Lone Ranger!!! I remember him coming out with two policemen and marching right past me! I could just stare!!! It really was Clayton(no mistake on that). He spoke to the crowd, answered questions (someone asked where was Tonto--he said "Back at the Lone Ranger Ranch!") He shot off one of his pistols and laughed saying "That gets louder every time!" Later my mother said I should have reached out and touched him when he walked by. I can still see The Ranger as clear as yesterday!

Hi Andy, I was there too. Great childhood memory! I don't know what year, if it was 1958 I would have been 9 years old. My recollection to the question regarding Tonto's whereabouts was that he was back " taking care of the horses ".
Also, he patted my head on the way out. I'm bald now, but, I'm sure it's not his fault.
