Bonanza was a truly honest program, focused on real family situations.
(Steelville, Mo. USA)
I was young when Bonanza was being aired, 9yr. old or so. It came on on Sunday nights. I remember when we came home for church, Mom would settle in to relax and watch Bonanza. We all looked forward to it. I appreciated the show then for the action and all the situations Hoss and Little Joe would find themselves in. But as I look back at it today, I find myself seeing a good, clean program that I wouldn't be ashamed to allow a child to watch. It was clean, a little humorous, and you could see the love this family had for each other. I remember Hop-Sing blowing his top when things didn't go his way, but then when one of the Cartwrights were sick, or hurt in some away, how he really stepped up and showed his love for the family. I watch reruns of a lot and I never get tired of them. I only wish there were more programs on tv today that were as clean and family oriented as this one was.
